All sessions are 6:00 to 7:30pm except for the first and last when dinner is provided and we meet from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
March 2nd – Session 1
Facilitators, Susan Isaacs and Sara Jane Peterson, will lead this opening session. This class will be from 6:00 to 8:00 and a light dinner will be served.
March 9th – Session 2
“Emotional Changes and Challenges” Presenter: Christy Sherman, PhD. Managing worry about cancer returning, sadness, depression and other emotions.
March 16th – Session 3
“Understanding Changing Relationships” Presenter: Victoria McMillan, LCSW. Examining how relationships with family, partner, friends and colleagues are impacted while on this cancer journey.
March 23rd – Session 4
Integrative Care Panel with Michelle Niesley, ND, and Mary Thimmesch, L.Ac. Learning about alternative healing methods such as naturopathy and acupuncture and how they can support your body during treatment and afterwards.
March 30th – No Session
April 6th – Session 5
“Building Resilience with Self-Care and Understanding the Mind-Body Connection” Presenter: Laurel Anderson, LCSW. Learning how to have your body, mind and spirit working together as we explore mindfulness, spirituality and other forms of self-care and healing to help handle stress and increase a sense of well-being.
April 13th – Session 6
Kimby Maxson, LMT and Specialist in Lymphatic Drainage and Visceral Manipulation. Learning how visceral manipulation can assist in digestion, cleansing the body, reducing scar tissue and about the connection between diet and chronic inflammation.
April 20th – Session 7
Diet and Nutrition panel with Shelly Kokkeler, Oncology Dietician, MS, RD and Tracy Beckman, RD. Getting information on diet and lifelong healthy habits while learning how to eat to help your body stay healthy and reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.
April 27th – Session 8
“A Doctor’s perspective on the Challenges and the Healing Phase of the Cancer Journey” Presenter: John Fitzharris, MD, Medical Oncologist. Recognizing the impact of treatment – chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery, changes in the body, fatigue, memory, fertility, and intimacy issues.
May 4th – Session 9
“Gaining Strength to Move Your Body in Healthy, Healing Ways” with Jean Nelson, Yoga/Dance Teacher, and Mary Staszak. Learning how to get your body moving.
May 11th – Session 10
“Letting Go and Moving On” with Susan Isaacs, LCSW and Sarah Jane Peterson, LCSW. Looking at some of the challenges and rewards of finding ways of embracing the “new normal”. We’ll also be celebrating the completion of the survivorship series. This class will be from 6:00 to 8:00 and a light dinner will be served.
